Desarrollo: Webinar presentation of Sorel Reisman, Managing Director of MERLOT (Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching) at the California State University Office of the Chancellor.
In an era of Open Educational Resources (OER), open source software (OSS), and Open Access (OA) publications, MERLOT, the Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching, stands out as the longstanding, favored digital gateway for instructors seeking all manner of open resources for their teaching and research. The MERLOT community, which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2017, consists of more than 150,000 registered members who have built a collection of almost 80,000 freely available, curated, multidisciplinary learning materials. With more than one million website visitors annually, MERLOT is the preferred international resource for discovering online teaching and learning materials. This presentation will discuss the concept of openness, including the use and reuse of learning objects, the new user interfaces and features in MERLOT (released in March, 2018).

Desarrollo: WEBINAR presentation of Jeffrey E. Froyd, Editor-in-Chief, IEEE Transactions on Education.
Scholarship in engineering education is shifting and authors seeking to publish their work in engineering education must be prepared to address changing expectations for scholarship. The webinar first introduces expectations for scholarship in a developing field. Second, the session presents the three areas of scholarship proposed by Ernest Boyer and session participants learn characteristics of manuscripts appropriate for each area of scholarship: Discovery, Application and Integration.
This webinar explore how to address review criteria for each area of scholarship, e.g., relevance, intended outcomes, application/instructional design, and findings. Analysis of manuscripts submitted to the IEEE Transactions on Education over the past 30 months suggest that authors struggle with how to address these review criteria. The intent of the webinar is to help authors and potential authors prepare manuscripts that address the expectations for publishing scholarship in engineering education in the IEEE Transactions on Education.

Manuel Castro, profesor de la UNED, nombrado presidente Emérito de la Sociedad de Educación del IEEE
Desarrollo:
Manuel Alonso Castro Gil, profesor del Departamento de Ingeniería Eléctrica, Electrónica, Control, Telemática y Química Aplicada a la Ingeniería, de la ETS de Ingenieros Industriales de la UNED, acaba de ser nombrado presidente Emérito de la Sociedad de Educación del IEEE, el primero no norteamericano.
Claudio da Rocha actual presidente, propuso su nombramiento en la pasada reunión del comité directivo (Board of Governors) de la Sociedad de Educación del Instituto de Ingenieros Eléctricos y Electrónicos (IEEE) en base a "su excepcional trabajo y sobresaliente liderazgo".

Desarrollo: In a joint organization, the Portuguese and the Spanish Chapters of the IEEE Education Society prepared a technical meeting at exp@17 about new frontiers in engineering. Although all topics are related to computing, different perspectives and application areas will guarantee that a great diversity of interesting points will be covered during the meeting.
The presentation of Manuel Castro and Unai Hernández-Jayo will be centered around the Internet of Things (IoT) (Manuel in education and Unai in its application to autonomous cars), the one from Manuel Caeiro will be focused in wearables, electronic devices and systems incorporated in some part of our body or clothes, and the last one from Manuel Gericota will explain why Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) are being (again) one of the current hot topics.

Taller de Integración de Raspberry Pi, Arduino y Node . JS
Se ha organizado en el centro de zona de Las Tablas, un taller con el fin de acercar a los estudiantes de las diferentes disciplinas en ingenierías y físicas el desarrollo de plataformas tecnológicas para la configuración de un laboratorio remoto.
En el que se tratará:
- Descripción, instalación y configuración de dispositivos
- Descripción, instalación y configuración del software necesario
- Creación de un laboratorio remoto básico
- Creación de los asistentes de sus propios laboratorios.

Webinar sobre la utilidad de los datos para el aprendizaje
SNOLA, la red española de Learning Analytics, organiza el próximo 23 de febrero a las 20:00 (CET), un webinar con Abelardo Pardo, un referente internacional en Learning Analytics, que compartirá con nosotros su experiencia sobre la utilidad de los datos para el aprendizaje. Bajo el título "¿Pueden los datos ayudarme a aprender?" explorará los aspectos del aprendizaje que pueden ser analizados en presencia de los datos. Desde el Grupo de Trabajo en Analítica del Aprendizaje y Sistemas Adaptativos del Capítulo Español de la Sociedad de Educación del IEEE se colabora en la organización del mismo.
